Hey friends –
We’re so thankful for all of your prayers over the last few days as we’ve completed another round of Molly Margaret’s OMS treatment. Overall, things went well with nothing unexpected. Always praising God for that! Tomorrow we head back for a full day – it’s round 2 of chemo. This round is a one day treatment. We’re not looking forward to it, but we know this is one step closer to complete and total healing so we journey forward.
Our sweet friend set up a prayer room for us so that we can be covered in prayer during our day tomorrow. The link is below. When you open the link you will first create a login so that you can sign up and then you can sign up for any time slot you’d like. More than one person can sign up per time slot. We’d be so honored if you would join us in praying. We continually strive to approach the throne boldly and specifically. With that in mind, we have put a rough outline of what will be happening in our world at different times of the day below with specific prayer requests so if you catch yourself thinking of us and look at the clock you can pray specifically for what we’re walking through at that time.

8:45am – Drive up to Duke and head into the hospital
- Safe commute
- Molly Margaret to be at peace entering the hospital – she is increasingly suspicious and unhappy to be in this building (who can blame her).
10am – Labs, meet with our oncologists
- For good counts that allow us to proceed with chemo.
- Discernment for us as we discuss scans and round 3 with the oncologists. Please pray for the Lord to give us wisdom and confidence to advocate well for Molly Margaret where we feel necessary even if it isn’t the “norm” or “standard protocol”.
10:30am – Echocardiogram (a potential side effect for one of the medicines deals with the heart so we have to get a baseline of what MM’s heart function looks like right now)
- Pray that Molly Margaret is comfortable and at peace during the exam.
- Pray that this medicine will not affect MM’s heart in any way.
11:30am – Pharmacists will be making medicine
- Ask for the pharmacists to have careful hands and attentive eyes.
- Pray that this dose of chemo is not too much and not too little. That it’s the exact right amount to take out the bad cells in MM’s body and not touch anything else.
- Pray for patience and easy entertainment during this waiting period.
12:30pm – Chemo Infusion begins
- MM will be receiving three different medicines – pray that each of these medicines does its intended job and nothing else.
- Pray for rest and easy entertainment during this very long infusion.
- Pray that MM’s spirits would remain up and her infectious smile would bring joy to everyone we encounter in the infusion center.
- Pray for MM’s nurses – that they would encounter the Lord by their time with us. That they would be compassionate, kind and skilled.
7pm – Hopefully by this time we will be heading back home.
- Pray for a good night’s rest. That bedtime would be smooth and Molly Margaret would get great sleep.
- Pray against all side effects. That Molly Margaret would not be in pain. That she would sleep well, eat well, nap well. Pray against fever, nausea, vomiting and anything else this medicine could cause in her precious little body.
- Pray for the days and weeks ahead – that Molly Margaret would feel good, that we would get some sweet time together as a family and that we would be able to continue to trust God in this process.
We keep clinging to the following lyrics of Prophesy Your Promise by Bryan & Katie Torwalt:
“When I only see in part, I will prophesy your promise. I believe you, God. ‘Cause you finish what you start, I will trust you in the process. I believe you, God.”
We can’t see the end of this journey, we can’t even see what tomorrow holds, but we trust God in the process. Because He is good. All the time. He’s never left us and He won’t start now. So we prophesy His promise & cling to it when we feel like we can’t keep going.
We are honored that you would intercede on our behalf and lift these requests to the Lord. Thank you for being part of this journey and joining us in this kingdom work. We are so thankful we don’t walk alone.
- Neal, Mackenzie & Molly Margaret 🙂
